It's almost show time!

I have been very, very busy the past 6 weeks sewing away in my craft room getting ready for my shows! The first one starts in just 3 days!  Eek!  How could it be holiday season already!?!?

Here are some things I've made recently:

My Wool Upcycled Sweater Mittens

Frosty Snowfriends

(The pattern for these is available on my website, and also an instant download on Etsy here.

Penguin Gourds

Lots and lots of new samplers this year!

Unnamed snowman!

This little fella is new this year, and will be a pattern, when I have a chance to make a pattern up.  What do you suppose I should call him?!?

Hope if you are in the Southwest Washington area, you'll look me up!  My schedule is as follows:

November 14 & 15 - Washougal High School Holiday Marketplace AND New Hope Bazaar
November 21 & 22 - Artisan Fair and Bazaar
November 29 - Prairie High School Bazaar

I've been watching lots of Christmas movies while I sew, and I am in the holiday spirit, already!  Let me be the first to wish you Merry Christmas!

Laurie

Made something new!

I've determined that it's time to be done crafting for my Christmas shows!  It's been over two months since I started putting in 12-16 hour days, and I've got plenty to sell at my two remaining shows.  Whew!  Now I had time to work on something I've been wanting to for a while.  I made some Christmas Labels that I listed on Etsy as instant download PDFs.  They were a lot of fun! I love messing around with graphics, especially vintage ones.

I called these ones Vintage Nature Gift Tags.  There are 10 in the set.  You can see them here.  I made 4 sets, and plan to make more in the coming days.

Can you believe it's almost Thanksgiving?!  And, it's a late Thanksgiving this year!  It's a month until Christmas!  Yikes!

Have a blessed, family-filled, grateful-heart Thanksgiving!

Four new patterns!

I don't think I've ever made four new patterns at once, but they are just about ready to go on my website!  You can see them here first!  I had so much fun with these guys!  I love Christmas!!!!

This is Christmas Annie.  She measures 15" tall and is my newest Annie doll. Doesn't she just make you smile!?

My Frosty Snowfriends are 19" tall, and I've included directions for each of the 3 variations in my pattern.  These guys are really sparkly and were great sellers so far at my shows!

Santa's Laundry Line is super quick to make, and sold out quickly at my first show! I'll have this one left at my next show!

Sparkles the Snowman has a body made from a glass root beer bottle!  He's even cuter in person, and very sparkly!  He holds his own little light, and will premier at my next show.  I believe he'll be my last new pattern for 2013 - and he's number 10 for the year!

Watch for all these patterns coming in the next day on my website and Etsy!  Don't forget to sign up on my website for my mailing list, as I'll be sending out a newsletter super soon too!

Laurie

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....

Ha!  Did you notice my sheep and crow (above) have Santa hats on?!  Time for a little holiday cheer! I've also added Burl Ives singing "Holly Jolly Christmas" to my side bar.  You'll have to click to hear it....many a time I've been browsing around on websites late at night, and startled myself nearly to death when I click on a website that has music playing!  Kind of annoying!

I added the Santa hats to my graphics on the website Pickmonkey.  I love this site and all the fun things you can do with photos!  Check it out!

I'm smack dab in the middle of bazaar season, and I've been putting in 12-14 hour days crafting! Got to take a break next week and put together 4 new patterns!  Watch for them soon! All Christmasy, and some great sellers at my bazaars so far!

New Patterns Coming Soon!

I've emerged from my craft room!  Since September 24th...the day after we took our twins to college (My babies!  That was sooooo hard!!!!), I've been working 10-12 hour days and sewing/crafting up a storm for my upcoming shows!  I've been too busy to stop and take pictures, but here are a couple of things I made this week that I will make into patterns in a week when my first show is over.

Frosty Snowfriends

These snowgirls turned out so cute!  I was just going to put one on the pattern, but decided to have three of them, to show the variations that can be made with one pattern.  I made 9 of them.

Santa's Laundry Line

Something kind of fun and different, and very quick to stitch up!

My first show is the best show in Southwest Washington!  If you're in the area, it's worth a trip! Crafts Unlimited is in it's 38th year, and it's a juried show.  Very high-quality crafts, live harp music, and a free Artists Reception with refreshments.  See the blog here for more details, dates and times, and directions to the show.

Can't believe it's less than two months now until Christmas!  Back to work!

Laurie

Can you stand a little more Christmas???

Yes, I know Christmas was more than two months ago, but I love Christmas, and my recently finished craft room (dare I say "studio"?) is all decorated in Christmas - year round!  I have never had a full room all to myself to set up for crafting, and when I found myself with an empty bedroom when our oldest daughter moved out, I jumped on claiming it for me!  As Christmas was just around-the-corner when I first started setting it up, naturally I decorated for Christmas. After the holidays were done, and I (sadly!) took down all the Christmas decorations in the rest of the house, I thought, "why not leave them up in my craft room all the time!?"  Now I can go enjoy Christmas any time I want to, and it'll be a great inspiration for all my Christmastime designing!

I painted up an old dresser that's been around for a long time (it was my Mother's-in-Law when she was a little girl!), and added some cool rusty star drawer pulls.  I made a fun sampler by adapting a great pattern I found here.  I learned how to make these primitive Christmas trees on this tutorial.

This built-in bookshelf was already in the bedroom, however, I painted it black.  Was a bit of a sore-spot between my husband and I, since it is made from maple that was harvested and planed by my husband from a tree off our place. When we found out twins were on the way, and we didn't have enough bedrooms, we decided we'd better finish our basement.  We only had a dark and dingy narrow stairway leading downstairs, so he cut down some maple trees, had them kiln dried and planed and made a beautiful open stairway and used some of the wood for things like mantles and this built-in bookshelf.  I guess I wasn't supposed to paint it, but I love black.  He's forgiving and things are cool now, though! :)

Anyway, back to my craft room tour. . .

You can see how I made the burlap banner here.

Behind these doors I have lots of craft stuff stored tidy in tubs.  So glad for more space!  The dressers and cabinets shown hold lots of craft supplies and fabric too.  Here's my sewing machine (one of them) on a drop-leaf table I picked up for $35 this winter.  My chair was $5 at a rummage sale.  Did you notice the tree in the corner?  Yay!  A Christmas tree in my house year-round!!!

I painted a couple more dressers black (I told you I like black!) and pushed them together.  The dresser on the right has room for my printer inside, and I can print my patterns out.  I put a bunch of Christmas music and some not so Christmas on this computer (my good computer is upstairs).  Yesterday while sewing I rocked out to ABBA!  (Mama Mia!)

My "C-R-E-A-T-E" signs were made by gluing wood letters onto fabric and framing them.  When our son was home over Christmas, he slept in here on the futon shown in the next photo, and he thought he was being pretty funny when he took down all the letters but the ones that spelled out "E-A-T"!

This futon folds down into a fairly comfortable bed, and makes a great place to sit and stuff dolls or whatever!  The pattern to my snowman shown is available here to purchase.  I made the lighting in the upper left corner from canning jars and a canning wire rack.  Pretty cool!  I first saw it here on Pinterest.  (Speaking of Pinterest, my girls got me into that a couple of months ago.  You can find me here.  Lovin' it!)

The shelf above the futon was in my son's bedroom before he moved out, and it holds some baskets and boxes I've filled with supplies.  Also works great to hold some of my Christmas decorations.

I picked up this rug last summer at Value Village for only $12!  I was so excited to find it!  I took it to my big show in Portland for my booth, and everybody wanted to buy it!  I could've sold it 25  times over!  Actually, this rug was one of the big reasons I decided to decorate my craft room in Christmas, as I couldn't bare to put it away!

I covered this antique oak chair's cushion with black wool and red buttons.  I made the pillows on the futon and the chair.

This bedroom was a double-bedroom with my daughter's next door.  It's downstairs and has no windows in it (the adjoining room does), so they had a walk-way between for fire-safety.  I put up a red curtain between, and I can throw it open for more light.  Fortunately, my daughter on the other side has her room decorated in red vintage quilts, etc., so it matches very well with my theme.

Well, that's it!  This is the view when I walk into my craft room!  I'm so happy with it!

So, back to the current season. . . I spent all day in here yesterday working on a couple of rabbits for Easter, and will have the patterns ready in a day or two.  So, be watching for those, and if you're on my e-mail list, I'll be sending out a newsletter within a week.

Holiday shows almost done!

My friend, Vicki and I at our booth.  Vicki is the amazing painter whose products you can see in the pictures.

Our husbands built our cute little 10' x 10' "chicken coop" shop for 6 days of fun selling!

Whew!  It's been a whirlwind for the past month with craft shows!  Today I finished up "America's Largest Christmas Bazaar" in Portland, Oregon.  900 booths + 6 days = Exhaustion!

My spirits were lifted this morning when an article appeared in our newspaper featuring me alongside some other local crafters!  Business from local customers was great on my website today after that!  See it here.

Hope so far your holidays are merry and bright!  More to come soon of holiday preparations and decorations at our house!  In the meantime, I've started a business Pinterest account, and here's a link!

Christmas blessings!

Online Bazaar!

First bazaar of the season is in the history books!  I can't believe it's already that time of year!

Starting on Thursday, November 8th, I'll have a "booth" at the EZ Craft Show online bazaar!  I'm pretty excited to see how this goes, and have added quite a few items, as well as some super prices on my Christmas e-patterns!  You can see it here.

I've added a couple of new category buttons on my website:  "Prindle Mountain Purse Co.", as well as "Freebies".  I recently made a Thanksgiving sampler, and decided to offer it as a free pattern.  Be sure to check these new categories out!

I spent most of the day figuring out how to host a PDF free online so I could put the free pattern on my website and not have to e-mail it.  To complicate matters, my computer crashed recently, and I upgraded to a new computer complete with Windows 8.  Not sure how I feel about that yet, as I was still back in the Windows Vista-world!  Of course all my old standard programs; PDF creator, Microsoft Picture-It won't work on Windows 8, so I've spent much of the week trying to work my way around things!  It's always something!

Laurie

Merry Christmas!

Holiday greetings!

Here is is just a few days before Christmas! It sure snuck up on me this year! Maybe it's because I had Christmas shows up until just 10 days ago, and it seems like I should still have at least 3 weeks left before Christmas! Somehow I've got the house all decorated, all the shopping and baking done, and it's all wrapped and ready to go! Life has definitely slowed down a little, especially with the hectic pace of Christmas shows and shopping for gifts behind me! I've even had an opportunity to take a few cat naps with my kitty! My sweet Lexie is such a snuggler! Here she is dreaming of sugarplums underneath one of my miniature trees!

I love vintage artwork, and found some great vintage Christmas Kitty graphics I'm going to share! Enjoy!

Have a blessed Christmas, and health and happiness in 2012!

Laurie

My gift to you!

Greetings!

Ahhhh.....bazaar season just got over Sunday, the house is decorated, and I have lots of presents already bought/made. Life has definitely slowed down in the past few days! Upon looking at my poor website and blog, however, it seems I must've slowed down a long time ago! Over a month since my last blog post!? I'm a bad, bad girl! To stay on Santa's good side, I thought I'd better remedy that! Here's the plan: Go to my website - Prindle Mountain Primitives, and choose an e-pattern. At checkout, enter the code "Free e-pattern", and your e-pattern will be FREE!!! This coupon code is just good for today and tomorrow, so don't delay!

It was a great bazaar season! My friend Vicki and I had a ball! Here's our display at the Expo Center in Portland, Oregon. Hard to see in the picture, but our husbands built us a little shop (and I mean "little"....10' x 10'!) out of old barn wood. We've always wanted to have a little store, and we did....for six whole days!!!

I hope you're enjoying this special time of the year, and I'm wishing you and yours the best, most blessed Christmas ever!

Laurie

Deck the Halls!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the ol' Johnson Homestead here on Prindle Mountain! All set for Christmas, minus tons of gifts yet to purchase, cards to make, and a Christmas tree to go chop down! Ok, so I'm not ready! The house looks good and sparkly, and it was fun decorating, even if it only lasts for a month!

One more craft show this weekend: Wy'East Middle School in Vancouver. Hoping to unload some things I don't want to store until next year! Happy holidays!
